BRACATINGA ECOLOGICAL WOOD PELLETS. As a pioneer species, it established pure, dense stands throughout vast areas in Brazil’s Parana area after thenative forests (Araucaria angustifolia) were cut and burned, indicating its reforestation potential. The tree is able to fix atmospheric nitrogen. Theproduct of our raw material is strictly related to small rural producers. Forthem, Bracatinga is a source of employment for family labor and a way of generating income, which promotes considerable improvement in the quality oflife of the farmers and their families.
Wood pellet is a wood fuel, made by compressing untreated wood or wood residues into a cylinder form. There are different types of wood pellets varying in quality and utilization purpose. For high quality wood pellets specific standards exist. Those wood pellets that fulfil the strict norms DIN Norm 51731 or ÖNorm M7135 are normally used for small boilers in households. BRIQUETTE BRAZIL BIOMASS DIN 5H110. Wood briquettes are a renewable, clean, natural product that burn without producing any pollutants and leave less than 0.5% ash. Wood briquettes are compressed wood without bark and are produced without any bonding agents or adhesives. They are suitable for all solid fuel equipment such as e.g. tiled stoves, open fireplaces, stoves, slow-burning stoves or central heating systems. The properties of briquettes are comparable with those of wood pellets. Thanks to the high pressure of production (up to 650 bar) the briquettes are clean in handling and virtually dust-free. The high energy content (calorific value of 5.3 kWh/kg) means considerably more comfortable warmth for you than is supplied by oak logs (approx. 4.2 kWh). The briquettes also involve less work and thus lower costs and less storage outlay. Wood briquettes allow comfortable, low-cost heating. They burn cleanly, are gently on the environment and virtually free of residues (ash < 0.3 %). No pollutants (e.g. heavy metals) are released on combustion and there is no unpleasant odour development.

AGRO BRIQUETTE BRAZIL BIOMASS. Why is Agro Briquette so Interesting: Renewable resource available virtually anywhere. Considerable potential agro briquette in the long term (residues and plantation in the long term). Capacity to penetrate all energy market sectors (heating, power & transport) as well as the basic chemicals market. Important related advantages agro briquette: net CO2-neutrality; decrease noxious gas emissions (SO2,etc.); favour employment in rural areas; contributes to the fight against desertification. Advantages of The Agro Briquette: Agro Briquette is an environmentally-friendly, renewable source of energy. Its most important advantage is the zero balance of the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is released during the combustion of the biomass, as well as lower emission of sulphur dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon monoxide (CO), compared to fossil fuels. For example, the combustion of 1 GJ of diesel oil results in the emission of 1.255 kg nitrogen oxides, 0,004 kg nitrous oxide (N2O) and as much as 73,84 kg carbon dioxide. The combustion of the same amount of residues agro results only in the emission of 0,202 kg nitrogen oxides, whereas the rate of emission of nitrous oxide and carbon dioxide is equal to zero. Using agro briquette for heating is becoming cost-effective - the prices of agro briquette are competitive on the fuel market. The use of agro briquette enables to finally develop agricultural wastelands and to use waste efficiently.

BIOMASS AND RENEWABLE ENERGY

Biomass energy plays a vital role in meeting local energy demand in many regions of the developing world. Biomass is a primary source of energy for close to 2.4 billion people in developing countries. It is easily available to many of the world’s poor and provides vital and affordable energy for cooking and space heating. Biomass-based industries are a significant source of enterprise development, job creation and income generation in rural areas. Modern biomass energy is widely used in many developing countries as well as in parts of the industrialized world. With proper management backed by adherence to appropriate ecological practices, modern biomass can be a sustainable source of electricity as well as liquid and gaseous fuels. Biomass, therefore, is not only a vital source of energy for many today but is likely to remain an important source of energy in the future subject to its sustainable exploitation.

Biomass, therefore, is not only a vital source of energy for many today but is likely to remain an important source of energy in the future subject to its sustainable exploitation.

Various global studies on the potential of biomass indicate that its use is expected to increase in the future. The IEA estimates that final consumption of biomass energy will increase in most regions , although at a slower rate than conventional energy consumption. The share of biomass energy in total global energy supply will, however, not increase and is expected to remain at about 11% .

Modern biomass technologies have the potential to provide improved energy services based on available biomass resources and agricultural residues. Widespread use of combined heat and power generation biomass options in rural areas can address multiple social, economic and environmental issues that now constrain local development.
The availability biomass power in rural areas could help provide cleaner, more efficient energy services to support local development, promote environmental protection, provide improved domestic fuels and improve rural livelihoods. Bioenergy technologies based on sustainable biomass supply are carbon neutral and lead to net CO2 emission reduction if used to substitute fossil fuels.

The progress has been made, the 2010 target of 21 % renewable electricity for EU corresponding to 22.1 % for EU15 will not be achieved under current policies and measures. Instead, currently implemented policies will probably result in a share of between 18 % and 19 % in 2010. In total, renewable energy accounted for about 15.2 % of total electricity generation in 2002. It has been identified that the main reason why the target is not being achieved is because the production of electricity from biomass has not been as high as initially foreseen. To ensure that biomass will contribute in the planned way to achieve the renewable energy goals for 2010 the European Commission presented an Biomass Action Plan4 in December 2005. This action plan sets out measures to increase the development of biomass energy from wood, wastes and agricultural crops by creating market-based incentives to its use and removing barriers to the development of the market.

BRAZILIAN ASSOCIATION INDUSTRY BIOMASS

A group of leading biomass companies in Brazil formed the Brazilian Association of Industry Biomass and Renewable Energy or Biomass Thermal Energy Council dedicated to advancing the use of biomass for heat and other thermal energy applications. The founding members of ABIB include biomass fuel producers, appliance manufacturers and distributors, and supply chain companies that represent the breadth of interests in the fast growing biomass thermal energy industry.

Most of the woody biomass-to-energy plants Brazil Biomass use direct-fired system or conventional steam boiler, whereby biomass feedstock is directly burned to produce steam leading to generation of electricity. In a direct-fired system, biomass is fed from the bottom of the boiler and air is supplied at the base. Hot combustion gases are passed through a heat exchanger in which water is boiled to create steam.

The administration of the company shall be held CEO Celso Marcelo de Oliveira Managing Director of International CMO Exports Biomass and Wood Chips and Brazil Biomass and Renewable Energy S.A and President Brazilian Association of Industry Biomass and Renewable Energy.

The Brazil Biomass and Renewable Energy mission is to production biomass wood chips and cooperate in the development of projects through sustainable solutions to waste management for a renewable energy and energy efficiency by biomass. Biomass boilers and CHP has a large potential to reduce both cost and CO2 emissions compared to gas and fired units.

Wood chips and other low-grade wood wastes are the major type of biomass fuel. Other common biomass fuel sources are agricultural. Wood-chips are cut according to the sizes ordered by the buyers and they are dishydrated through. Wood residues from pulp and paper manufacturing, lumber mills, and other industrial wood users are frequently used for producing biomass electricity. Hundreds of biomass fuel systems are currently at work in different parts heating schools, government complexes, and entire city downtowns, as well as producing renewable electricity.

Biomass is a renewable fuel that can be sustainably produced. Biomass fuel is a local product. In contrast to coal or petroleum-based fuel, biomass is grown and harvested on local and regional forests and farms. Energy dollars spent on biomass fuel stay in the regional economy, creating jobs and supporting forestry and agriculture. Biomass fuel prices are generally lower and more stable.

Wood Chip is readily available and cheaper than mains gas and oil. Wood Chip is a renewable energy source. Wood Chip combustion is carbon neutral. Wood Fuel heating systems can be fully automated. Wood Fuel heating systems convert 90% of the fuel into usable heat energy. The South has the most dense woodland in Brazil. 75% of all woodland in the South Brazil is privately owned which could lead to alternative revenue sources.

Additional Declaration
APPROVED TREATMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH WOOD PACKAGING MATERIAL
Use of debarked wood
Irrespective of the type of treatment applied, wood packaging material must be made of debarked wood. For this standard, any number of visually separate and clearly distinct small pieces of bark may remain if they are: - less than 3 cm in width (regardless of the length) or - greater than 3 cm in width, with the total surface area of an individual piece of bark less than 50 square cm.
For methyl bromide treatment the removal of bark must be carried out before treatment because the presence of bark on the wood affects the efficacy of the methyl bromide treatment. For heat treatment, the removal of bark can be carried out before or after treatment.
Heat treatment (treatment code for the mark: HT)
Wood packaging material must be heated in accordance with a specific time–temperature schedule that achieves a minimum temperature of 56 °C for a minimum duration of 30 continuous minutes throughout the entire profile of the wood (including at its core). Various energy sources or processes may be suitable to achieve these parameters. For example, kiln-drying, heat-enabled chemical pressure impregnation, microwave or other treatments may all be considered heat treatments provided that they meet the heat treatment parameters specified in this standard.
Methyl bromide treatment (treatment code for the mark: MB)
Use of methyl bromide should be undertaken taking into account the CPM Recommendation Replacement or reduction of the use of methyl bromide as a phytosanitary measure (2008). NPPOs are encouraged to promote the use of alternative treatments approved in this standard.
The wood packaging material must be fumigated with methyl bromide in accordance with a schedule that achieves the minimum concentration-time produc (CT) over 24 hours at the temperature and final residual concentration specified in Table 1. This CT must be achieved throughout the wood, including at its core, although the concentrations would be measured in the ambient atmosphere. The minimum temperature of the wood and its surrounding atmosphere must be not less than 10 °C and the minimum exposure time must be not less than 24 hours. Monitoring of gas concentrations must be carried out at a minimum at 2, 4 and 24 hours (in the case of longer exposure times and weaker concentrations, additional measurement should be recorded at the end of fumigation).

BRAZIL BIOMASS FUEL WOOD CHIPS ENERGY

Wood Chips Pinus Brazil Biomass and Partners are ideal for the fuel energy. Our product is of high quality. Wood fuel has several environmental advantages over fossil fuel. The main advantage is that wood is a renewable resource, offering a sustainable, dependable supply. Other advantages include the fact that the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted during the burning process is typically 90% less than when burning fossil fuel. The principle economic advantage of wood biomass energy is that wood is usually significantly less expensive than competing fossil fuels.

The wood chips, pine present average humidity around 20/25%, due to the process of packing. The analyses were performed in triplicate for each treatment and followed recommendations of the rules of TAPPI - Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI, 1994). Our company develops viable projects in renewable energy. One of our jobs is to produce and export wood chips to the international market. It is a pleasure to get in touch with you for a reciprocal collaboration in terms of Biomass fuels and Renewable Energy.
The analyses had been doing at the Energy Laboratory. For the determination of the moisture content. The granulometry was determined by method developed in the Energy Laboratory. Ash in wood was determinated by TAPPI T211 Standard and gross and net calorific value by DIN 51900 Standard. Moisture content, ash, gross calorific value and net calorific value in wood. Ash wood 0,35 % Gross calorific value 4847.

The ideal moisture content is equal or lesser that 30% and greaters that 60% are undesirable. The ash content is low, compatible with the usual values of the wood. The gross calorific value is compatible with the values observed for wood, that are between 4500 the 5000 kcal/kg. The net calorific value must be greater that 1200 kcal/kg to have satisfactory performance in burners with grate. 97,24% of material have chips dimensions.

Materials for use in burners with grate system must have lesser percentage 30% of material with sawdust dimensions. It shows that the material have adequadet dimensions for burners systems with grates. The energy characterization of the material shows that the results of the ash, gross calorific value and granulometry are adequated. The material can be used in the generation of energy, in systems of burners with grates (fixed or mobile stream beds).

TRANSPORT CONTAINER WOOD CHIPS

The transportation of container wood chips or biomass. The unloading takes place by means of a forklift with a rotator or with a stationary unloading installation.

The advantages of this new transport system can be used by various branches:

The supplier – with a more flexible usage through direct loading or the possibility of pre-loading The forwarder – through a more efficient usage of all vehicles usable for combined transport The receiver - through a very easy, efficient unloading with a small number of personnel and low requirements on the infrastructure

Brazil Biomass 2009 - 2010

World energy problems. Consumption of energy dependent on fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas). Finite reserves of fossil fuels and high prices. The increase in consumption will continue (United States, China and India). Serious environmental and economic consequences from the use of fossil fuels and emission of greenhouse gases.

Kyoto Protocol signed in 1997. Objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Adoption of common policies to reduce CO2 emissions Biomass - Renewable Energy. The content of carbon emitted during combustion of biomass was previously captured the atmosphere in a short time period - balance = zero balance.

Strategic options of Brazil Biomass : Solutions for the supply of fuel from renewable sources, the international market or the national market for co-generation of energy. Conversion of carbon emissions in assets with economic recovery emissions avoided. Processing of forest biomass for sale to international customers. Installation of energy crops for production of biomass for commercial purposes and co-generation of energy. Minimizing the costs of disposal of waste from logging operations and its use as a product. Valuation of property and renewable energy products.

Options used by Brazil Biomass. Operation in the forest in the area of production and total recovery of wood and forest residues and the valuation policy of social and environmental responsibility. Experimentation, import and adaptation of technologies. Wood chips production of paper and forest biomass. Different types of biomass for different types of technologies. A product of high quality, certified in Brazil and Europe and used as an industrial source and a product in the form of biomass with the use of forest residues for the burning and the generation of energy. Innovation and integration of technology and operations to optimize the management models of different types of forest residues.

Biomass Energy Plants in Brazil : Since inception, the Brazil Biomass and Renewable Energy in the future commercial supply of biomass waste originated from forest and there is a demand and widespread use: Looking for international companies, increasing from Wood chips and biomass and that hardly can be satisfied with waste from forestry operations (tendency to grinding of wood and for increasing prices). Localization assent bit of forest residues.

Advantages of Energy Biomass: Energy biomass with lower overall costs of production. Stabilization of prices and the pressure on timber and other forest products which currently derive raw material for other industrial sectors. Increased demand for biomass could be met with new areas of crops on a large scale.

Objectives for 2009/2010 and the Biomass Brazil: The process with new industrial production units in Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Parana. Produce and export to international customers 100,000 tones per month of paper Wood chips and pine and eucalyptus of 100,000 tones per month of forest biomass with the waste to the plants for co-generation of energy. Capture new energy markets. Start the conversion of consumption of fossil higher price associated with the production of industrial steam.
